As a 24 hour operation offering a full spread of security services, Southern Cross Protection has complex scheduling requirements in that they must match the skills and expertise of its security personnel to each client’s needs. Different State-based work rules and pay rates are further complicated by penalty loadings for night shifts, holidays and overtime.
National HR Manager, Vicky Hopper, said staff used to complete manual timesheets which then had to be collated and entered into the system by branch managers. “It typically took our managers a full two days every pay cycle to check the information, enter it into a spreadsheet and send it to national office for processing.
With a goal to free up time for their managers by reducing the amount of manual handling, SXP went looking for a best-of-breed workforce management solution that would integrate with its payroll system.
